VPL crash in windowscodecs.dll

When I try to run VPL it crashes wth error:

AppName: vpl.exe AppVer: 1.5.507.0 ModName: windowscodecs.dll

ModVer: 6.0.5840.16388 Offset: 0002bb8c

My system is:

Windows XP Pro PL SP2 with latest updates, frameworks 1.1, 2.0, 3.0,

CPU AMD Sempron 2800+.

This looks like you have an old version of this component.

It may be that the windows imaging components where not properly updated when installing .net 3.0. You can install them manually from here [1]

In rare cases it is necessary to remove the old dll manually before the new one can be installed. Please only try this as the last resort.
