Vista beta testers are a mix of people selected via Microsoft Beta, and MSDN subscribers.
From reading these forums it seems to have provided a much better mix of testers than the idiots on the Windows OneCare Live forums. Have a read of those if you want to know why your job involving computers is made so difficult.
