WDS finds and displays in personal folders, but cannot open e-mail
We use Outlook 2000 in our office and use one or more personal folders (.pst). WDS can search in these personal folders, it displays the results and you can view the result in the right plane (= read the e-mail). But when I double click the e-mail in WDS, Outlook shows an error message: "Cannot display the given item. Cannot complete the action. One or more parameters are invalid.".
When I double click a found e-mail which is stored in "Outlook today" (so not in a .pst), I can double click it and the e-mail is shown by Outlook.
It's quite annoying that a user cannot forward an old e-mail which is stored in a .pst simply by double clicking the search result.
Are the command line options wrong which are sent to Outlook 2000...?
I'm experiencing the exact same issue with any PST that is attached to Outlook 2000. Not just with email results but calendar results as well. Search results from the Exchange information store are opened without error.
Rebuilt Index still erroring.
Unistall and reinstall has NOT made a difference.
Scanpst reports 0 errors with the PST.
We are running WDS enterprise and multiple users are having this issue.

Hi Paul,
An user reinstalled the Windows Desktop Search and said the problem with opening e-mails from a PST has gone. I tried the same without effect. I checked his version of WDS and noticed he has installed the OLDER version of MSN Search Toolbar. WDS Enterprise is version 2.06, MSN WDS is version 2.05.
Yesterday I tried the newer version "V2" of WDS 2.06, but that did not fix the problem.
Then I installed the MSN WDS (2.05) and it works! Seems to me there is a bug in the Enterprise version of WDS.
