SQL 2005 2008 Side-by-Side?
Hi,
Can I install 2008 in parallel to 2005 and then do DM tasks? Would the Excel 2007 also be continue to be supported?
Thanks,
Bob
I have it installed on one (virtual) machine side by side, but I would not do it on my productive machine as there might be components which will be updated in the future and perhaps are causing interoperability problems (There is a reason why there was a cleanup utility for the CTPs of thelast version of SQL Server). As it is CTP I would use it (as I do now) in a sandbox.

The Data Mining addins for Office 2007 still work on the July CTP of SQL Server 2008. In fact, the new time series algorithm in SQL Server 2008 will be used directly by the addins so the issues with prediction truncation will go away in the Excel environment.
I did this and now i regret doing it. I can't build any of my former 2005 sulotions in 2005 anymore.
Im uninstalling 2008 as i write, don't think that will help thou
