Business Scorecard Manager 2005 Beta 2 Setup

Hello All,

While running setup for the Business Scorecard Manager 2005 Beta 2, when
I get to the feature requirements analysis under web parts, I get the
message "Failed Microsoft SharePoint Extended Site" and I can't continue with the setup.

How do I go about this in order to continue?

Regards,
Sam.

Per one of our support engineers:

It’s a break/fix problem. Here’s my update:

1. BSM is based on SPS/WSS technology. From the problem description offered by our buddy, I suppose the problem is on SPS/WSS. Please ask the buddy to refer the SPS/WSS admin guide and try to extend a new site on his machine before BSM installed. We’d better make sure we can successfully extend a new portal/site by accessing the site from IE.

Here’s information for extending WSS. The detail steps vary from SPS/WSS and the type of databases (MSDE/SQL2000/SQL2005)

2. Here’s some tips on general troubleshooting on this issue:

l Extend a new portal/site on a new IIS virtual site. Then setup BSM on the new clean site again.

l Confirm the permission; I suppose the buddy has the administrator privilege on his machine. And he should have administrator role on the specific SPS/WSS site.

l Is there anything logged in EventLog once we met the error message again?

3. If you still met the problem even on a newly created portal/site. Please kindly help to gather following information:

l EventLog

l WSS or SPS? The version of Service Pack?

l Single-server deployment or multi-server deployment?

l Can this problem be repro on another SPS/WSS environment? Could you let me know your detail steps (screenshot is preferred)?

Anything unclear, please feel free to let me know. I am looking forward the buddy’s response.

Regards, Ming

Given that there are quite a few questions around BSM, the product team has recently set up a blog with a common issues FAQ. Check it out on http://blogs.msdn.com/bsm/.

si no le sirve, es por el SP... actualice a BSM con SP1
