Installing VBA6.0 on XP

Good morning and hello.

Ages ago I received a SDK 6.1 containing the latest release of VBA 6.0. I

happily and without problem installed this on my laptop running Windows ME

and all was well. I have since updated my laptop to one running Windows XP

Home and when I went to install the SDK I was confronted with an error

stating that "....You first must install Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Service

Pack 3 to install the VBA Integration Wizard...."

I searched the microsoft web site and found a "service pack 6" so I

downloaded all 24M on my 56k line. The files extracted correctly to the

folder I selected and when I tried to run the setupsp6.exe file I got to the

point where I agreed to the terms etc.... and then I received the following

error ".....Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 6 setup was not completed

successfully....." There was no other reason for the error.

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what EXACTLY I need to download

and install so that my SDK will install and configure correctly on an XP platform, please.

Per the VBA SDK team:
This error can appear without explanation if you answered “No” to the question “Do you want to re-boot now?”

Did you re-attempt installation of the SDK? (I believe--though I am now familiar with the 6.1 installation—that you can do a custom install and choose not to install the Integration Wizard.)

Hope this helps,

Hi Brenda,
Thanks for your efforts, however, I restarted the computer immediately following the initial install. I have also attempted repeated installs and the result is the same, even when I first uninstall the SDK. Then I went looking for the executable, but all I have in the Programs folder under "Visual Basic for Applications 6.0 SDK" are : Samples(Folder), SDK Documentation(folder), Release Notes, Technical Overview and VBA Setup Tool.
When I attempt to re-install the SDK via a Custom Install, I Check the Visual Basic Integration Wizard and then click "Next" and I immediately get the following error "You must first install Microsoft Visual Basic version 6.0 Service Pack 3 to install the VBA Integration Wizard"
I would dearly love to get the SDK up and running, but I have no clue as to what to do now.
Thanks again
Scott

Hi Scott,

If you could email me (budsup@microsoft.com) with your mailing address, I'll have the VBA SDK team mail you the latest SDK. Hopefully, this one will install smoothly on your system.

thanks!

Hi!
I have a very similar problem. I have installed Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 in Windows XP. When I was trying to Install Visual Basic 6 SP6 and after reading the license agreement I received the same error Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 6 setup was not completed successfully....

What can I do?

Thanks
