Vista BHO Appxweb Website Problem

A few days ago I purchased a new Toshiba A200/JO1 Statellite laptop with Vista and proceeded to install my BHO named "Appxweb Meta". The BHO install worked fine with me able to run Meta applications locally with protected mode "off". The BHO is not compatible with protected mode 'on' but I was about to start upgrading it.

Unfortunately a stange behaviour has appeared - I am not able to access my own websitewww.appxweb.com using either IE7 or Firefox. I know my website works fine because I can access it on my other laptop running XP. All other websites are accessible. This appears to be similar problem to these postshttp://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1884842&SiteID=1. and herehttp://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/29944516/vista--ie7-even-in-no-add.aspx

Not sure.? Steps I have taken to try and fix the problem have included

Uninstalling the BHO.

Delete all temporary internet file in IE7.

Reset all default security zone in IE7.

Turning the Firewall off.

Recovering the hard drive using Acronis. Unfortunately my first backup was just after I had installed my BHO. (Yes I am kicking myself now.)

Searching the registry to see ifwww.appxweb.com is somehow blocked.

I also checked my wireless modem fromhttp://www.virginbroadband.com.au/ which states it is Vista compatible.

Tonight I will use Fiddler to try and understand the problem more. Has anyone else experienced similar issues and/or can point me in the right direction. This is very frustrating.

Thanks

Ian Hart

Looking at the post below this is starting to appears as though is not a BHO issue rather then Vista/Laptop Bug ? Can I ask the moderator to move this thread to the Vista IE forum.

Thanks Ian

Hi! I just got a new laptgop with windows vista installed in it. I tried accessing my yorku email (http://mymail.yorku.ca/), and it says cannot display page. All other pages open just fine, and at first I thought it was just that page, but it opens fine from my other comp and othet laptop. Is it some kind of preset setting on EI or Vista? "Use SSL and TSL are checked in my internet options (as the EI error page suggested I do). Someone plz help asap cuz I's like to be able to check my email from here. Thanx!

Elisa.

Since this has not been moved, I will close this off here so as not to spread any miss information about Vista which I like (especially with the Daily Dilbert gadget). After countless hours changing every possible setting and mode on both the laptop and router/modem the source of the problem was identified. This problem was not due to VISTA, any BHOs, the Toshiba laptop, the modem/router or anything in between. It was the result of the ISP provider to Virgin Broadband blocking the www.appxweb.com website. Why ? - this is still a mystery but hopefully will be fixed in the next day. BTW both Toshiba and Virgin Broadband technical support (telephone) were very helpful in sorting this out.
