Need serialization examples/tutorial

I have to implement both the base code and a tutorial document for an effort that will be sending requests to a web server through WCF. I have implemented the actual server and client and can send and receive messages but I don't have the detailed understanding I need on how to declare and implement the data serialization to create a base class and write up the documentation required in order for other programmers to properly implement the required serialization of information into the html message being sent to the server. Can someone point me at tutorials, examples of classes that implement serialization and the resulting html?
