BSM Web service install error

I am currently attempting to install BSM 2005 trial version. Here is the setup:

Windows 2003 Server running SQL Server 2000

Windows 2003 web server with Windows Sharepoint Services 2.0

I have installed all the pre-requistes, installed BSM on the SQL the Server and created and extended a site on the web server.

I hit a problem when trying to install the web parts and web service on the web box. If I untick the web services the installation completes but when I try to run the installation and install the web service I get the following error message:

Faile to create web application. (-2147023838 /LM/W3SVC/2/Root )
