Adding Custom components in IEAK 7
Hi,
I have problem while adding IE7 updates and Windows XPSP2 security updates as custom components in IE Customization wizard. Should we give the full path of the exe(update) or only the exe? should the exe's be placed in the location from where we are accessing IEAK? Before i made a build by placing the exe's in a different location and the IEAk in different location. I was able to prepare the build. But when i tried to install those updates using the exe generated by creating the build am getting an error that "windows cannot find the exe"
Please suggest how to include custom components
Hi,
I think that as part of the license agreement for IEAK7 you have to deploy IE7 with the automatic updates check at Windows update as there are specific pre-requisites for an IE7 install.
I think that IEAK installs the IE executables first before installing any packaged "Addons" whereas the officail MS install does a windows update check before archiving IE6 and then installing the IE7 dependancies and then Addons.
If you have a look at the INS file you will see alot of conditional switches checking for pre-requisites.
A web search for slipstreaming IE on XP machines indicates that you can't do it by that method either..

Sory I have only guesses/comments to offer. Bit time consuming to setup a test IEAK package.
