Have you tried getting the update through the Microsoft Update System.

Hi bathed_in_flames,

From the 80 error message stating the file exists, it seems that you have already had VC# 2005 Express SP1 setup package. Did you try to check if VC# 2005 Express SP1 setup file existed in your PC? Did you use any proxy server in your network?

Did you try to download VC# 2005 express SP1(Visual C# Express Edition SP1 - VS80sp1-KB926749-X86-INTL.exe) from this website - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7B0B0339-613A-46E6-AB4D-080D4D4A8C4E&displaylang=it? If not, try to download it from the above link and install it in your PC.

I made a testing to download VC# 2005 express SP1 from the above website and install it with VC# 2005 Express in my PC. I found it worked on my side.

ok i found the issue, the sp1 files are already in the windows prefetch folder. now the whole reason for this program is for xna. now when i go to install xna it says sp1 is not installed. im really lost and out of ideas. spending way too much time trying to get everything installed and keep running into problems. any ideas?

I would suggest to repair the c# Express Install and reinstall the SP, You might have to perform a reinstall of the Engine.

And as you say it is for XNA, Welcome.... remember that you can also get support on the Creators Site https://Forums.xna.com

Hi bathled_in_flames,

If you would like to install XNA, I recommend you to try the following steps:

To get started with XNA Game Studio Express, first make sure your Windows computer meets the hardware and software requirements for XNA Game Studio Express. Then, follow these three easy steps:

1.Download and install Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Express Edition. This free edition of Microsoft Visual C# is what you will use to create the code for your XNA Game Studio Express games, and is required to be installed before you install Microsoft XNA Game Studio Express.

2.Download and install Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Express Editions Service Pack 1.

3.If you have Windows Vista installed, we recommend that you download and install Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 Update for Windows Vista.

4.Download and install Microsoft XNA Game Studio Express. Once the installation is complete, you can start Microsoft XNA Game Studio Express and start making games for Windows. For known issues and setup information, see the Release Notes.

5.Optional: If you would like to create games for Xbox 360, you will need to join the XNA Creators Club - view this instructional video to learn how to enroll in the XNA Creators Club and start making games for your Xbox 360. You can also follow the instructions in Connecting to Your Xbox 360 with XNA Game Studio Express.

Try to check out this forum - http://creators.xna.com/Education/GettingStarted.aspx for more information.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

yeah i have tried all that just cant get sp1 to download. keeps giving me error message "file exisits" with a code 80. when i click run it begins the download then the message pops up. all it does is place the pf file in the windows prefetch folder and nothing else. thats why xna wont let me install because sp1 isnt installed. i dont get it.

Hi bathed_in_flames,

I tried to download VC# 2005 express SP1(Visual C# Express Edition SP1 - VS80sp1-KB926749-X86-INTL.exe) from this website - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7B0B0339-613A-46E6-AB4D-080D4D4A8C4E&displaylang=it and found it worked fine on my side. My suggestions for you as follows:

1) Try to delete the pf file in the windows prefetch folder

2) Try to download VC# 2005 express SP1 to another folder in your PC from this website.

Based on my understanding, this should work for you. If you still get the same error, try to check if you can download other setup packages from your network.

Good luck!

Just a quick one... you do not need a paid subscription.. You just need a Gamer Tag, and you can get this from the xbox.com site. There is some onformation that you can get from the site that is resticted to creators Club Memebers, this is the paid part.
