no search results

I had been using WDS with no problem, but since replacing my hard drive (I did a full backup then restored the whole lot to a new drive) I have not been able to get ANY search results from it. The only other problem I had after the restore was with Office 2003, but after copying in the MSI files from the old drive this has been fine and I have had no other problems.

I have re-indexed several times, moved the location of the index, removed and resinstalled WDS (twice, including once where I removed registry keys, and I have deleted any leftover folders), installed the enterprise WDS, and gone back to normal WDS - all to no avail.

It happily indexes, and there is a big index file, but I can't use it!

Help!

We have verified the same scenario at our end & this worked fien. On restore the backuped data is properly indexed and we are able to see proper results on query.

One important thing: After restore did you make sure the index locations is set to "Email & All Hard drives" in options ( If you re-install WDS by default this option is "Email & My Documents) and we remove all the already indexed data in other locations and the indexing status dialog simply shows the URLs, but that might be either newly indexed/ can even be URLs being removed. I think its later one in your case and hence you didnt see results in the end.

Try changing the indexing locations to "Email & All Hard drives" & see is that works.

Thanks for the reply, and sorry for my late response!

Unfortunately this has had no effect, so I bit the bullet and rebuilt the laptop over the holidays.

Thanks for your help.
