TFS WorkGroup Edition / 180 day Trial
Under our volume license agreement we have a number of MSDN Premium subscriptions. It was my understanding that Microsoft would include a version of Team Foundation Server for use with the role based versions of Visual Studio i.e.: Architect, Developer, Tester. This 'Workgroup Edition' was to have the full functionality of TFS functionality, but limited to 5 users.
However on the MS subscription downloads I only get the option to download the full (180 day trial) version.
Does anyone have any information about the WorkGroup Edition?
Alternatively, if there is an upgrade path from the 180 day trial version to full version, perhaps that is the best way forward for the moment. As this is being deployed in a live development environment, I dont want to be in the position in 180 days time that TFS expires and our source code is inacessible!
Any ideas?
I don't recall the specific link on MSDN to give you all the licensing information.
However, the RC was released pre-keyed for 180 day trial. RTM will allow you to provide the appropriate key (trial, workgroup, retail, volume, etc.). I don't know specifics of how MSDN will handle this, but it will be there.
There is an upgrade from 180 day or from workgroup to full. This is on the maintenance screen where you can provide a new key.
Team Explorer is the integration point for VST* and the server manages users and trial.
Hope that helps
