Rebuilding application for Win CE

I hope this is the correct forum...

So I have now finished my pride and joy first VB application and it works very well on a Desktop/Laptop. How hard, easy, impossible is it to recomplile it so that it will run on a window CE machine? Is it just a matter of recompiling it or more work needs to be done for it to work? Any ideas, pointers suggestions appreciated.

Glad to hear your app runs well on laptops!

This forum is for questions about developing applications on laptops and Tablet PC's that are running Windows Vista. You may also wish to post your query to Pocket PC forums: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/default.aspx?ForumGroupID=11&SiteID=1

I believe that you will have to re-write and re-compile your application using the .NET Compact Framework in order to run on Pocket PC / Windows CE devices.

Thanks,

David

Like the poster before, I am totally new to exporting VB apps to my pocket PC. I've spent hours doing google searches, signing in with MSDN, downloading the software, 60meg on a dial up connection, then searching this forum, to see your 'near sarcastic' reply to a newbie.

I was lead to believe if you downloaded the VB 2005 Express software, all of this was taken care of. eg, the .NET framework was part of the download.

OK. Call me thick. Any pointers to a simple solution.

Regards, VBBAZ

And yes, i'll spend the next few hours searching the 'proper' forum thread you so kindly pointed out.

Thanks for your post. Unfortunately, I am unaware of a "simple solution" for porting a Windows application onto a Pocket PC. But, then, I am also not as well versed in issues surrounding developing applications for Pocket PC as the people in the Pocket PC forums. That's why I referred the original poster to the PPC forums.
