DotMsn Connection Licensing

OK. I'm using DotMsn and C# to connect to MSN network, but 95% of the time, it fail. Currently, I am using the default setting provided DotMsn as my connection parameter

-- client id:msmsgs@msnmsgr.com
-- Client code:Q1P7W2E4J9R8U3S5.

I believe the connection failures have something to do with the licensing as the official documentation stated that:

"Note that officially you must use an obtained license (client id and client code) from Microsoft in order to access the network legally"

I wonders where can i register for a license to the network?

I thought I read a post that you should submit it to the http://www.worldsbestapp.com/ site to get ID/code. I can't find that post but it still allows submissions so I think I recall it correctly.

Your submission will not be part of the contest.

EDIT: Found the link!

You will not get an AppID yet but it will be posted there.

At this time, there isn't a program from which to request a license for an application that was built using non-certified tools. Something like dotMSN would be considered a non-certified tool. The App ID's created for the Activity API program http://activity.msn.com are different than an ID for a protocol tool like dotMSN.

If you're looking to build a Activity/Bot application I would encourage you to evaluate one of the existing certified partners tools.

Cheers,
Todd

Hello Todd, i programmed a bot with dotmsn. it communicates to people who want this application in their msn list.

i want to ask a question that , is it illegal ? i don't want to use the certified partners software , because that would be a new story for me.And i don't like their conditions. what would be the consequence if i run this bot? I think MSN team would only shut up my bot if it created much server traffic illegally.

DotMSN isn't a certified solution.

What that means to you, is that if you build a bot on top of it you won't be able to get the bot offically licensed on the network (provisioned to have the reverse list removed, which enables more than 1,000 people to have your bot on their contact list).

I hope that helps.
