Backup/Restore Application Tier

We have TFS (RC version) installed in a two tiered manner with the applicaiton on one server and the database on another. I was informed this morning that the server for the application components is going off lease. My question is what is the best practice for backing up and restoring this application layer to a new server. The databases will not be moving at all. Should I just re-install the application on the new server and somehow hook it back up to the database server? If so, how is that accomplished?

You can setup a standby AT and then activate it after shutting down your old AT. See the links below for more details:
