Installing reporting services gives error - IIS is either not installed or not configured.....

I am trying to install reporting services 2000 on a win 2003 server but I keep getting the above error. I have IIS 6 installed, .net framework 1.1. I have checked the hosts file and have the correct localhost entry. If I type http;//localhost or 127.0.0.1 into a web browser I get a "The page cannot be found" error. When IIS was installed, Default Web Site was removed.

This may well be more of an IIS issue so apologies if this is posted in the wrong area.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?
