problems with vista graphics drivers
ive been having problems with the last 2 builds of vista beta. i have an ati radeon x1300 pci express card with 256mb of memory. it is vista ready, but even the basic drivers that vista offers for it wont work. the only way i can use media center, view pictures and play games in when im in safe mode or when i load the standard graphics drivers. even the 5308 beta drivers from ati wont work right. can anybody give me any insight as to whats wrong and any possible solutions. i find it hard to believe im the only one having problmes with this. its also the same when i view the system profile for my pc, i have a pentium 4 - 3.0ghz cpu overclocked to 3.6ghz. only when im in safe mode will it show the correct info, when im in vista it shows i have a 3.0ghz running at 1.5ghz. ?
I have a Geforce card ... i had the same problem with their beta for vista ...
I have started using the XP Version of the driver instead. When you go to install the Geforce software, InstallSheild begins and extracts the driver files to a folder it specifies on the hard drive ... after the files have been extracted, i cancel out of the installation of the Nvidia software ... when i do that the InstallShield leaves behind the XP Drivers on my Hard drive ... i then use Vista's hardware wizard to manually install the drivers that were extracted before and Ta-Da ... it works perfectly.
