Can I edit scenarios on Project Portal?

Is it possible to allow users edit WorkItems in WebParts or only in Excel?

By Project portal, do you mean the share point website?

If Yes, currently we don't have interface to edit work items through web. We can edit them through IDE or through Excel. However, you can develop a web interface using WorkItemTracking Object model to edit work items.

You can use TeamPlain Web Access for Team System to edit work items using a browser. It's a commercial application though.

can you please let me know if there is a way to add user defined webparts to teamplain. I wanted to create a bug tracker that is tailored to our requirement and use that instead of the one provided. Any help/links will be really appreciated.

The current version does not allow such extensibility yet.

Maybe you can customize the work item definitions to suit your needs, wouldn't that work in your case? Team Foundation Server is very powerful and extensible, and in most cases it will allow you to do almost anything in terms of bug tracking.
