TF30177: Team Project Creation Failed (the strange way)
In detail:
What i have:
1. TFS (TFS RTM Workgroup Edition, Domain Setup)
2. TFSITG (TFS RTM Workgroup Edition, Domain Setup, same domain as 1.)
3. TFSClient (Windows XP Pro)
All the machines have Visual Studio 2005 and Team Explorer installed, so i can use each of them as a client. TFS and TFSITG are in use for a few weeks and there are a couple of team projects on both machines. I worked on them the last weeks using the TfsClient machine. Everything with absolutely no problems - until yesterday.
All of a sudden, i was not longer able to create a team project on TFSITG with TFSClient as the client (messages and log at the end of the post). OK, a server problem i thought. I tried to create a team project on TFSITG using TFS as a client. No problem. Hmm, ok, a problem on TfsClient, i thought and tried to create a team project on TFS with TFSClient as the client. Works fine. Wow, what now. I have no idea.
Another thing to mention: As i said, creating team project on TFSITG using TFS as the client works. I can also see these projects on the TFSClient machine in team explorer. When i expand the team project on TFSClient, the WorkItem folder in team explorer is "empty" and marked with a red cross (while WorkItems are looking good for projects that were created weeks ago). Looking from TFS as the client to the same team project, the WorkItems are looking good too. While there is no related entry in the eventlog (client and server), i get the following error message (and the associated log) when i try to create a team project on TFSITG using TfsClient as the client:
