TfsBuild on buildserver fails after upgrade to RTM

Hi All,

We upgraded the TFS bits to RTM from B3R last night. Everything seems to work except for the daily build continuous integration.

If I try to run TFSBuild start <server> <project> <builtype> it gives me an:

Access Denied: You need the 'Update Build' permission to perform this action.

I run this command form the actual build server (is that still OK?)

I double checked the acl on the drop share, my account and the service account have full rights. My account and the service account are part of the BuildMaster and BuildSevices group on the TeamProject...

Any clever hints will be very welcome...

Greetings

Ren

Using a Team Foundation Client, go to "Team->Team Foundation Server Settings->Security..." menu and ensure that the user running the TFSBuild.exe has the Update Build permission.

Thanks.

Tnx for your response, however...

The account running the build is part of the following groups, with the following permissions

Buildmaster group:

- administer a build

- edit build quality

- start a build

- write to build operational store

Buildservices group:

- edit build quality

- publish test results

- start a build

- view project level information

- write to build operation al store

we don't have a 'Update build' permission as such mentioned anywhere in the security dialogs we examined so far. Can you elaborate a little but more on this 'update build' setting?

The reported version of the team explorer is: 8.0.50727.147

Tnx,

Ren

Update build is "write to build operational store" permission. (We found the mismatch after RTM and have fixed it now but it exists in RTM.)

If you have "write to build operational store", I am not sure why it is failing then. Do you see anything in the event log?

Thanks,

Gautam

We fixed it, auto-magically the accounts where not part of the Build Services group (but me and the Tfs admin checked twice and the account was present) after adding them again they persisted and the build succeeded.

Tnx for the help/clarification.
