Goal Base Load Test using Response time

I wish to set up a goal based load test based on the response time average. which counter do I point this at in the LT properties?

thanks.

do the number of virtual users increase and decrease until goal is reached? or does the number of users just adjust upwards and we need to set the value of "stop adjusting when ..." to true to keep the number virtual user climbing up to the max number set.

The number of users will increase or decrease until the "goal is reached", but the goal is not determined to have been reached until the sample performance counter has been within the target range for three consecutive samples. Once that happens, then the "stop adjusting when" boolean matters as it determines whether or not any further adjustments are made if the perf counters falls out of the target range.

That's great. thanks for the help!

the goal based load testing feature using response times averages will better aid me in answering the age Conversation that goes something like:

Q: So how many user can I get on a box?

A: What are the end users usage patterns and what is accpetable performance in regards to response time?

-- Now I can just plug in the response time limits, set the load test to use multiple tests weighted in accordance of expected usage patterns (10% operation A, 30% operation B, etc.) and let it rip. when the # of users settles out I will have my answer and move on to Scaleability checks.

Any chance you will be adding in an authentication mechanism when adding the web servers into the counter sets? Currently the test machines have to be in the same domain in order to read the perf counters on the specified remote server. Would be nice if I could just add credentials when specifying the remote server to get around this.
