File type missing when added file attachment to scenario work item

When I add a Word document to a scenario work item as file attachment, VSTS 2005 adds the file without a file type extension.

The file is added from a sharepoint project environment using the Add button, Browse button and following the directory structure to the specific file.

Afterwards: Open the file from the file attachment tab and VSTS 2005 shows Type: Unknown file type. This occurs for all Word documents, but not for Visio documents.

I have checked that the file type in the sharepoint portal is Word document.
