Bhanu,

You've still got the answerme links for the forums, and the links for the names don't work (because they end in /t_blank).

Perhaps the top and bottom performing teams should be broken up by actual forums, that way users can actual see what forums need the most help.

Regards

David

Every user that is listed in one or more lists, thanks for the great work! Thanks for making this happen!

I'm glad i entered the Top 10 All-Time answerers list.

This month, April, is a very busy month for me so i think April Top Answerers List won't make me happy, but i'm trying to keep up the good work.

The numbers posted are "Small Potatoes". I've answered over 40k questions, even though Google's database only keeps the last 24k or so.

Results 1 - 100 of 23,800 for -dotnet group:*.vb.* author:ken author:halter

http://groups.google.com.my/groups?as_q=&num=100&scoring=r&hl=en&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=dotnet&as_ugroup=*.vb.*&as_usubject=&as_uauthors=ken+halter&lr=lang_en&as_drrb=q&as_qdr=&as_mind=1&as_minm=1&as_miny=1981&as_maxd=20&as_maxm=6&as_maxy=2006&safe=off

...and, the "VB" section should really be called the "Visual Basic .Net" section.... they are NOT the same products.

Actually Visual Basic was renamed back to Visual Basic in 2005.

> Actually Visual Basic was renamed back to Visual Basic in 2005

Yeah but... what about the billions upon billions of lines of code that won't run in the new, misnamed product? There's alot more to a product than its name. Retaining the identical name may fool "newbies" but for people like me, that could, for the most part, import Quick Basic code, or any prior version of VB code into any later version of VB upto and including version 6 and, with minor modifications, compile and run it, that new product, regardless of what its called, just doesn't cut the mustard. It should be named B#.

Heck... even the MS site doesn't have code that runs unmodified in "the new product". Just download any of the samples available on the "Stay the path" page and see if >any< of them run at all, without modification. Be sure to install only the latest version of dotNet and make sure it's the same version available to the public.

I know.... the next question will be "what have you tried?" or "which sample are you having a problem with?"... thing is, people just starting out with "the new product" should be able to download sample code and run it. Period. Plus, I've taken hours and hours replying to posts from MS employees. The end result is always the same. They all disappear without answering anything at all or say "I will contact the appropriate person to answer this question"... then they disappear.

I just wonder how many complete newbies downloaded the Express versions, just to find out that none of the code works so they uninstall it (quite a chore, in itself) and delete the setup package before moving on to another vendors development tools. There was an article, just the other day, saying that Linux developers now out number Windows developers. What does that say about the tools Windows developers have at their disposal?

Ken,

I downloaded the VB6 sample upgraded projects and there was one that didn't work, it was the DataGrid one. I believe (but not sure) that this was because I didn't have Visual Basic 6 installed, hence some of the ActiveX controls were not present.

What issues did you encounter?

If you want to contact me offline david DOT kean AT microsoft DOT COM, we can discuss this.

Sorry to add a reply to this, but I am wondering what happened to the past couple of months for the top answerers of the month? :-) Is this a gone feature now? :-)
