TF80070 after updating FieldMapping.xml and reloading

I'm getting a TF80070 error when I try to Publish or Refresh for a MS Project (stored in Project Server 2003) that has already been associated with a TFS project. I suspect that problem is due to a change I made to the FieldMapping.xml file and reloaded to the TFS project (I added a field to the mapping). If I look at the column mapping shown in Project under the Team menu, I don't see the new column I added. It seems to be cached somewhere. If I try to Publish or Refresh to update the cache, I get the TF80070 error.
Help!

Hi,

It sounds like the change to the mapping file was not valid. MS Project does keep a cached copy of the field mapping. It updates this during publish/refresh only, which is why you are seeing this problem at that time. Please post the changes you made to the mapping file so we can take a look.
