Run ConfigSamples.exe failed on IIS not installed

This is the cofigSamplesLog file. I am having problem installing IIS with XP Pro SP2.

I did the following after installed .NET 2.0
- installed SQL Express
- having trouble to install IIS using XP CD (the IIS service is not showing any where) after installation halted a couple of times.

any suggestions?

Are you having trouble finding how to install IIS on the XP cd? Pls. try the following to see if IIS installation works.

- Goto 'Start - Control panel - Add/Remove programs'.
- In the Add/Remove Programs dialog, click 'Add/Remove Windows components'.
- Check 'IIS' check box in Windows components wizard dialog.
- Click next and insert your Xp CD in the CD - ROM drive.

To verify that IIS is installed, you can type http://localhost in a web browser and you will get a page with 'Under construction' notice. Then install the configsamples again.

What do I do if "IIS" is not available on the "Add/Remove Windows components" window? I'm running Server 2003 and it has "Fax Services", "Indexing Service", Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration", but no "IIS".

Thanks for asking! I'm a member of the ASP.NET team, and was just popping over here to see what was going on. The best place to ask ASP.NET questions is over on the ASP.NET forums at http://www.asp.net/welcome.aspx?tabindex=1&tabid=39

The short answer to your question is that is it located under the "Application Server" item in the add/remove windows components. Either that, or run the "Configure Your Server" tool from the Admin Tools start menu.
