Visual Studio FoxPro VS. .Net 2003

Hi D., Visual FoxPro 6 was part of Visual Studio 6, as a separate language. I.e. Vs6 included VC++, VB, Visual FoxPro, etc. At the time when Visual Studio ..NET was being developed Visual FoxPro 7 was initially included in VS but was not designed to compile to the .NET runtime. The VFP community decided to remove VFP from VS.NET so VFP7 was released on 29-Sep-01, and was Microsoft's first live product to both publish and consume Web Services. Visual FoxPro 9 was released on 22-Dec-04 and there are announced plans for a service pack and future development codenamed Sedna. Again, Visual FoxPro is a separate product from VS.NET and does not compile to the .NET runtime. Visual FoxPro one of the XBase family languages and since the database is built right into the language it's especially suited to working with data. In addition to native FoxPro tables (DBFs), FoxPro is a great front end to any ODBC/OLE DB compliant database such as Microsoft SQL Server, bringing its native database handling features to the table in a way that VB.NET and C# can not currently do. If this does not answer your question, post back. -- Cindy Winegarden MCSD, Microsoft Visual Foxpro MVP cindy_winegarden@msn.com www.cindywinegarden.com Blog: http://spaces.msn.com/members/cindywinegarden wrote in message news:c90cd4f7-a24a-407c-b295-bbbe4e4eaf59@discussions.microsoft.com...

You can read FoxPro tables with a .NET language using the FoxPro and Visual FoxPro OLE DB data provider, downloadable from http://msdn.microsoft.com/vfoxpro/downloads/updates . -- Cindy Winegarden MCSD, Microsoft Visual Foxpro MVP cindy_winegarden@msn.com www.cindywinegarden.com Blog: http://spaces.msn.com/members/cindywinegarden wrote in message news:4b364bc4-ec15-42af-b891-876e7123b70b@discussions.microsoft.com...
