Beginners Forum

Hi Guys,

Just a quick suggestion,

As a total beginner, and new to all the programming thing in general....(VB.NET)

I think it would be a good idea to have a noob section, as ti be honest, most of what is discussed here is way beyond me at the min, and I would not want to post seemingly stupis questions & in the wrong place as I dont know the terminology yet.

Just a suggestion, would this be possible in the future, as Im sure im not the only noob in here ?

TIA

Max

For now don't feel bad about posting any question. I bet you get speedy answers to easy questions. If you get any pushback from ANY forum member don't hesitate to let me know (jledgard@microsoft.com ) or use the "report" link at the bottom of the post. I want these to be a safe place for ANY question.

You should also know that "Getting Started" forums in big areas (like VB) are on our potential list. We simply want to wait until we get some more critical mass before expanding the forum list.

Hi I am a beginner and have been searching all over the microsoft website for a place to answer a very, very, very simple question. I have no more time to search as I am doing a university course online and am behind in my readings. So I hope you will indulge me.

I am looking for how to view what has been told to word to make a document appear the way it does. I am looking for this because the course requires us to add text to the side of text that is existing in a file that is sent to us on a 'floppy' for the A drive. (They hardly left any space down the side I would love to modify but this is not neccesary

I know that I used to do this quite easily but cannot seeem to get it to appear today.

I thought if I could see what they told it I could more easily add my text without all the existing text moving around causing havoc. By the way on my own I did not know how to do this either so I made a column down one side and a text box down the other. I am sure there is a better way to do this.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help, Me

Could you be a tad bit more specific on what you are trying to do?

Hi
Basically what I am trying to do is change a file that I received from my instructor. This word file runs down the left two thirds of a page and I am to put my notes on the right hand side of the page. When I typr in my notes I encounter two problems. I need more space as each note of mine should be basically across from the existing text and when I type anything in it moves the existing text around. I tried changing the text of the exisisting document but am having troubles. Any way that htis could be done easily would be appreciated.
The question I was asking was that I used to be able to go in view and pick something that allowed me to see paragraph markers, tabs, spaces, etc. as little symbols within the document so that I could see what had been done to make the document look like it did. This would allow me to modify more easily. Is this still something that can be done?

Hi,
This thread merely discusses a Beginners forum as a suggestion for this site. This thread doesn't entertain questions, just suggestions. So if you are having problems, you might try posting in the other forum groups in this site.
cheers,

Hi
THANK you all
I give up I do not know where to ask this as everywhere seems inappropriate. I will hand write it in my messy scrawl.

As to suggestions
I suggest that microsoft have a beginners forrum for asking questions about their programs for basic users of it. I also suggest that is be easily apparent on one of the forst few links. For instance Support for dummies ( you know like the book series) or some such glib title as that.
Thanks
Me
