SQL server 2005 Beta 2 Uninstall Hell

Ok, I have tried everything I can think of, but I am still getting errors to do with SQL server 2005 beta. Since the beta expired on all the VS.net 2005 I thought it would be a good idea to uninstall the lot to save some hard disk space...how wrong I was!!
Everything uninstalled just great except for SQL server 2005 Express. I manged to uninstall everything, but whenever I used the computer management in Windows XP, I got an error, since it was still trying to load the sql server manager snap in. So much for a clean uninstall!!
So, I figured I'd try reinstalling SQL server and its components, then uninstall again to try and fix it. It wouldn't even reinstall!!!
After hours of headaches, I came up with a plan....System Restore! So, I rolled my PC back to when everything was installed ok and working fine, except that it isn't working as it did at that time. I am getting an error message at the logon screen saying that the SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with. This message then goes on to say that I should unnstall and reinstall SQL server 2005 to fix the issue, but I tried that, and it refuses to work... does anyone have any ideas, of know of a non buggy uninstaller for SQL server 2005 beta 2?
I have tried the build cleanup wizard, which funnily enough refuses to load, and generates 3 errors of its own...or was that 4...I just can't remember cos I'm sick of seeing them!!

Jason,

Email me and I can provide you with a script that will do a brute force clean-up of your machine.

I need this script also. I installed SS Express and now I cant get SS 2005 to install. It says it is already installed.

thanks dtjones.

however, i've suspected that sql 2005 installation is messy to the core right from day one. otherwise, folks wouldn't resort to such a brute force approach right?

who the hell wrote the install/uninstall scripts, he should be fired.
