Missing editor (I think !) for solution properties
Hi ! I am new to C# (and programming generally) but I enjoyed working with C# Express 2005 Beta 1, and made some dlls for some software I already have. This required using the properties interface to build and debug.
I recently installed Beta 2. The compiler works fine, but when I click the Properties in the solution explorer I just get a message:
Package 'Visual Studio Settings and Project Designers Package' has failed to load properly (Guid {67909806-91E9-4F3E-AB50-495046BE9A9A}). Please contact package vendor for assistance...Then another message about
not having an editor for .csproj files.
I have "repair and reinstall"ed VCS but no success.
Any ideas?
That didn't do it.
So far, Visual C# Beta 2 will not install successfully on my machine (running Windows 2000) with a correct installation of the Properties editor.
Actually it took about a week to establish this since SQL Server Beta 2 was prevented from uninstalling (even using manual regedits !!!!!!!) by its useful little helper Services application.
So far my experience with this excellent piece of Microsoft wizardry has been
ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE.
Tim,
Is the only issue you are encountering with the Properties editor? The error you are running into sounds very much like an installation issue that must have been caused by the previous Beta1 version and framework on your machine. Have you tried running the uninstall tool for express as well?

The order in which you uninstall is important, did you use the tool or do a manual uninstall?
Thanks,
Karen
