Sound card driver causes blue screen
I just don't know where to report, but i got beta for find and report bugs, so i do so.
I installed driver for my creative sbpci 128 having ensoniq chipset, it works fine except if it is not disabled at boot vistabeta2 got blue screen, and reboot, if i disable sound card in safe mode, it boots fine, and if the sound card is enabled after boot it works, but i have to disable it before shutdown
It sounds like you've discovered a bug. While this forum's main purpose is for technical questions about the Media Foundation multimedia API, we still thank you very much for reporting it.
I've relayed the info you gave me to our audio driver experts, and we'll see if it's a known issue or if we can reproduce it.
I or someone else will make another post here if we need some more info from you.
Again, your bug report is much appreciated.

OK, here's the deal. It looks like your card is pretty old and isn't supported on Windows Vista. So if you're looking for alternatives, one option is just to use the on-board audio device if your board has one. Otherwise here are some suggestions of other add-in cards from Creative that we know work all right. All of these drivers can be picked up at their website: Audigy1, Audigy2, Audigy4 (there isn't an Audigy3), X-Fi-Extreme Fidelity.
Hope that helps you...

My MainBoard (Abit KD7-E) doesn't have integrated sound and i don't plan to change sound cards 'cause i'm not interested in that 5.1/7.1 thing. I have a stereo amplifier and 2 three-way 250W speakers, and this card has a quite good sound quality, i donn't really trust x.1 stuff for quality, maybe i'm wrong, but afterall why do i need to buy a new soundcard if i have a geed one working ?
First off. you are an ingnoramus. old sound card uh? its pci you idiot! whats to old to you pci express 1? second if microsoft goning to have people think about paying for vist in the futer it better support isa pci vesa esa mini pci arm becuase theve had plenty of time to get there sorry act together! btw xp has a bloody problem with the sb128pci also, with xp's own driver.
i also have a creative x-fi platinum with Vista Ultimate. i couldn't even install my x-fi since i put vista on. now when vista auto updates it tries to install the x-fi driver and then i get a blue screen. now that i've taken my x-fi out, my computer is running fine. vista recognizes the x-fi but....? what do i have to do to get this darn thing to work!? btw i have:
2800+ AMD64
1.5 gb's of ram
ATI All-In-Wonder 9800 (i know i know)
Gigabyte K8N-Triton
windows vista ultimate
i just don't know what to do next...

I have the same problem with my creative sound blaster 5.1 soundcard.
Microsoft update gets the drivers for it in auto update, but everytime i try to use them i get the BlueScreen error giving me a PFN_LIST_CORRUPT
As soon as I uninstall the sound blaster drivers it works fine again.
I'm using x86 OEM Vista Ultimate RTM and the drivers were downloaded and istalled 7th April 2007.
I think something needs to be fixed here.
