Same problems, but build 5384

I just installed Vista beta 2 (32bit) at build 5308 on a brand new Optiplex GX620. It boots then, no matter what I do including if I do nothing at all, about two minutes into my user session the menu bar sort of jumps up a bit and I get the blue screen-o-death. When I recover the windows crash console assures me that "this bug will be fixed in a future release" but other than a criptic set of "bcodes" (1000007e) it gives me no further information. I need a work around for this if anybody can help. How do I find out if it's hardware or software related even? If there is no help, when is the next release?

Thanks.

me too having same problem. It boots and after 1 min it gives blue screen saying that windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer. I have installed winxp on another partition but that gives no problem at all. This problem started after I was installing Alcohol software in vista. May be it is the cause. But I changed RAM and thought that it might be due to this newly installed RAM but then it continues after a clean re-install of vista.

I have also experienced this issue with my Dell 600m (1.6Ghz pentium M,

1Gig DDR2700 (266Mhz), 30 Gig Hdd, 64MB radeon Mobility). Blue screen

pops up minutes after I start Internet Explorer or any other Vista

programs. I have not installed any other applications due to this

setback. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

This happens to me, but on build 5384. Vista will always bluescreen after i start trying to browse any files uing windows explorer, which is a very big problem as I cannot access my files very easily as I store most shortcuts in folders to stop them crowding my desktop.
The bluescreen says something about DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_OR_LESS_EQUAL

I'd really appreciate some help, thanks.

same problem with vista... runs fine until i try to use the file explorer although file browsing is fine in safe mode. Im using a sata HD on a Maxtor pci sata controller card. I thought that was the issue but seems other people are having it too.
considering putting XP back but i think the only way is format.

I am also getting a Bsod but I don't even have to do anything to get it. as soon as my desktop comes up, I get a bsod. This is also right after installing alcohol. I get the same thing in safe mode too. I can boot winxp on another hard drive with no problems. im 99% sure this is from alcohol dvice drivers buit I don't know what ones to manually remove since I can't get into vista to uninstall.

and I thought the Blue Screen of Death was gone forever...

Same trouble here, but mine has gotten progressively worse of the past 3 days. Vista Beta 2 - 32 bit on HP Media Center m7330n, dual AMD64, 1G SDR, 250G HD. I can't find anything new I installed or did and never had a problem before this. I started getting the B.S. everytime I tried to open a certain folder within my Documents folder from file/open in Adobe Illustrator 10. I was able to open it once from Windows Explorer, and it was all fine. The next time I crashed from Illustrator I tried Explorer again, but from then on... everytime I tried to open that folder from Windows Explorer B.S! It's now to the point that I can't even get my logon password typed in before the shut down. I booted in safe mode and tried to delete the folder but I keep getting an error saying it is being used by another application. Still can't boot normally...

Any help would be much appreciated here too...

<SIGH> ...and I was so loving Vista :(

don't know if this helps at all-

folder/location/file types:

c:/...Documents/ShineOn/ShineOnCommunications - the only files that were in it were 3 .ai files about 500-700kb each and a .zip file under 10mb. I was able to delete the .zip and one of the .ai but the other 2 give me the 'being used by another application' error even without any other programs open. Can't virus scan in safe mode, but they appear to be my files that I created and checked out that first time....

?
