Error Creating/Editing Maintenance Plans

Whenever I attempt to create a SQL 2005 Maintenance Plan on one of our remote servers, I get the following message:

"The connection type "ADO.NET:SQL" specified for connection manager "{xxx-xx...etc.}" is not recognized as a valid connection manager type. This error is returned when an attempt is made to create a connection manager for an unknown connection type. Check the spelling in the connection type name."

I also cannot edit other 2005 maintenance plans and have only had this issue since installing SQL 2005 on a newer workstation. When I attempt to edit/view an existing 2005 maintenance plan, I see the following error:

"Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: component (System.Design)"

I'm assuming these 2 errors are caused by the same problem...I have installed all components and SP1, but it appears as though something needs to be edited/changed in order for the connection to be recognized, but I'm unable to find any help on this issue. I have seen this error mentioned before in various forums but never resolved. I am able to create/edit/view Maintenance plans on our SQL 2000 servers, it's only the 2005 ones that cause this error. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
