June CTP Orcas Tools Installation problem
I've got the June CTP WinFX Runtime, the June CTP SDK. But the June CTP Orcas won't install. I get the following error messagebox.
Setup has detected that a prerequisite is missing. To use Microsoft Visual Studio Code Name "Orcas" Community Technology Preview - Development Tools for WinFX you must have the WinFX runtime installed. Please install the WinFX runtime and restart setup.
Does anyone know how to resolve this? I know that WinFX is correctly installed, because I've run many samples, and Expression and XamlPad run fine too.
Is there any way to convince the Orcas installer into believing that WinFX is installed?
I just did an fc/b with the June CTP Orcas tools and the Beta 2 Orcas tools. They are the same file :-(
Looks like someone mixed up installers. I hope someone at Microsoft sees this and appropriately updates the June CTP download so it links to the correct installer.
This is an issue with VSTO CTP installation with the June WinFx/.Net 3 install, the VSTO install wanted a specific version (February to be exact) and they had released June's. The fix was to do this to the registry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WinFX RunTime\3.0\Setup\Indigo]
"InstallSuccess"=dword:00000001The reasoning was that WinFX was no longer called Indigo.
I post this as information and not necessarily the fix to your problem...i.e. your mileage may vary!

The size of the June CTP file is 4,383,232 bytes
Your size (4,367,872) is that of Beta 2.
Looks like they have a web farm - and perhaps one (or more) of the mirrors have the old file - possibly due to some file-mirroring error. Keep re-downloading (after clearing the cache each time) till you get a file that's 4,383,232 bytes in size.
Alternatively, you can get someone to email it to you - I can do that if you want me to.
