New alerts post link still have problems.

An example of what I recevied in an email alert recently:

...< A HREF='http://forums.microsoft.com/forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=573345&SiteID=1'>

Click here, to view the Post alert details....

The HTML was transmogrified somehow and there were no links to the post, just the above text.

I second that. The link text is new but the old problems are still there, including extra spaces, exclamation marks and %20 in the href text.

I think this no longer occurs, correct?

It's been less frequent for the past several months, last one was about a week ago (?) Did you fix something?

Nope, got one this morning in response to this thread's 3:43 am post. Typical problem, looks like the original HTML in the post gets truncated in the wrong spot. The HTML in the alert is nasty, I'll email it to you rather than post it here.

Thanks. I'll have to pass this on to the Alerts team, although I am pretty sure that once we move over to the new forums platform late in the summer, we will be using a new alerts system as well so I am not hopeful that this problem will get addressed at the moment.

I couldn't get through your spam filter with my email. I won't bother if it isn't going to produce any results.

"not hopeful that this problem will get addressed" is pretty scary to me. I've taken a good look at the "beta" and, while originally announced for April, late summer sounds very optimistic to me. Straight question: do you personally think a late summer deployment is realistic? I'm asking you this in consideration of your untypical professional attitude as a member (contractor?) of the forums software group.

Hi,

We are looking into the malformed link in the alerts mail but I do not have an further information yet. If the problem is not on the forums end but on the alerts end, I do anticipate having difficulties getting it addressed in the short term. But hey, I will try.

As far as the new forums platform is concerned, I am mostly just involved w/ trying to keep the current platform (and a couple of other communities apps) running . As far as I know officially, this is still the plan.

Thanks!
