Will the new generation of certifications become obsolete so quickly?
Hello this questions is for people who creates new technologies so fast and also for people responsible for creating the certification tracks.
More than one month ago I realied that msft is going to launch .net framework 3.0 and its .net 2.0 +wpf+wcf+wwf as I understood.
The new generation of certifications I am trying to do is
MCPD web, win and enterprise app developer.
The question is, will this be obsolete so quickly?, will be good my effort to pass these exams if new technology is coming so fast?
I need advice on this. Thanks
This is why I have personally choosen to not focus so much of my time and energy on MSFT certifications. MSFT is suppose to be using shorter product cycles in general now (2 years)....If I am both a .Net & SQL guy that means I have to take (guessing for the current gen 2005) 4 or 5 tests (MCDBA can be upgraded with 1). Why would I do all this only for 3.0 Framework to come out and then i would have to certify somehow that I am knowledgeable of the 4 new main Foundations that sit above the 2.0 framework in the stack? Technology is beginning to turn so fast that a true certification path is not feasible.
My best solution/stab at the problem would be to only test allready certified candidates on new features. So for 3.0 framework it would be a test for WPF/WF/ etc... SQL Server would only be new features etc... And I believe this is what MSFT is doing to some degree but I dont currently perceive this ideaology is implemented throughout the tracks currently.
