HI Michael,
Alot of people have asked this here. I've managed to get MyODBC working to a certain extent, but certainly not enough to use the interface. So far, i don't know of anyone who has done this.
If you manage to get a setup working, i would certainly like to know how you did it. (I have some old projects that need converting)

Is there no possible way to do this?

I have not been able to get it working using the ADD NEW DATA SOURCE.

I have heard that by coding everything manually I can get around all of that. Is that true?

You never mentioned why it is not working!!

I'm not sure if you code everything it will work. I've never upgraded any projects that used MyODBC databases. If you get it working though, again., i'd like to know what you've done.

You still have not told me.

Why doesn't work?

When will it work?

Is there any kind of work around at all. Available and functioning NOW!!

I am using Visual Studio 2005 Enterprise Edition Beta 2and MySQL 4.0.2. I have also tried to use the drivers for ODBC 3.5.1 and MySQL 3.1.8 in combination with everything else and it simply does not work.

Your link is too an article that uses Visual Studio.NET and not even Visual Studio 2003 let alone Visual Studio 2005. It also use .NET Framework 1.1, but you of course are supposed to know and understand that Visual Studio 2005 Enterprise Edition Beta 2 uses .NET Framework 2.0.

Your link to this article provides a link to something I have not heard of before called MYOLEDB. This file and the link are so old that neither exist anymore.

Your post is over two years old.

I certainly not pass that link on to anyone else!! TOTALLY USELESS!!

I guess you can quickly start to understand that your article is useless to me.

Who are you and why did you give me such old silly information which is literally two generations ago?

Answer my questions PLEASE !!!!!

Answer my questions correctly !!!!!

Answer my questions simply !!!!!

Im sorry, i thought you where asking for help, and i was trying. It seems you are on your own now.
On a side note, I read some of your other forums posts, and it seems that if you don't get what you want, right away, the first time, you get quite rude.
Check it out for yourself, read how you're talking to the other people who are helping you.

Anyways, i'm not going to suggest you things anymore, as it is obvious to me now, that my skills are not elite enough to be worthy of your time.

I need help ... but I need real, correct and accurate help.

Not solutions for development tools that are two generations old and don't even exist any more.

Visual Studio 2005 Enhanced Edition Beta 2.

1. On the right column of the development screen I select the tab DATA SOURCE.
2. Click on the link in window above that says ADD NEW DATA SOURCE.
3. Click on the data source type WEB SERVICES and then click on the NEXT button.
4. In the URL field I type in the URL and then I click on the GO button.
5. WEB DISCOVERY SERVICE dialog and I click on the YES button.
6. I enter the URL, USER NAME, PASSWORD, DOMAIN and click on the YES button.
7. The error message above appears in a window with the heading "Web services
found at this URL" and the dialog reappears with everything except the PASSWORD visible.

Error Message ...

"Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'EnvDTE.IVsExtensibility'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{3C536122-57B1-46DE-AB34-ACC524140093}' failed with HRESULT: 0x80004002 (No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)))."

I have followed the help instructions carefully and nothing works ...

To connect to a database from Server Explorer

1. From the View menu, choose Server Explorer.

2. In Server Explorer right-click the Data Connections node and choose Add Connection.

3. If this is the first connection you make, the Choose Data Source dialog box appears. In this dialog box under Data Source choose the kind of data source to which you are connecting, and then under Data Provider choose the provider appropriate for the application you are working with. Finally click Continue.

4. In the Add Connection dialog box enter the requested information.

This information is different for each provider. For more help on this tab, click the Help icon at the top of the dialog box or press F1 with the dialog box selected.

5. Click the Advanced button to bring up a list of properties where you can change settings for the selected provider.

6. Click Test Connection to check the connection without closing the dialog box. This way you can make adjustments to the settings if the connection does not succeed.

7. Click OK.

Your connection appears in Server Explorer under the Data Connections node.

Seriously I read a few of your post, atfirst I can understand that you are pissed off. But then when I read a couple more, I totally think you should go do something else.

I have the same problem with MySQL but I know its a B E T A, and people answering this thread is just like YOU and ME. Its not like every reply is OFFICIAL MICROSOFT SUPPORT.

So STFU. Dont act like a kid that doesnt get candy.

You made me register to post this................
