When does Hatteras read in the Testing Policy metadata file?

Visual Studio/VSTS Version: Beta 2

At what point will Hatteras reload the Team Project Testing Policy metadata file (.vsmdi)?

I have created a new test. This new test does NOT get picked up under the following circumstances:

- When the test is added to the test list that is configured for the check-in policy I have configured for Source Control
- As above and the solution is reloaded
- As above and Visual Studio is restarted

The only way I have been able to get the solution to take notice of the setting change is to remove and reapply the policy to the Team Project.

In Beta2, we retrieve the tests from VSMDI file at policy definition time and don't even remember which vsmdi file was used. We only persist the test Ids.
This has been totally overhauled post-Beta2 and the new testing policy will let you choose more than one test list per metadata file. It will also use the latest version of the metadata file on policy evaluation (unless the metadata file is being edited locally, in which case it will use the local version after ensuring it's up-to-date).

In short, the problem you're describing is no longer an issue.
