Importing\Exporting Team Projects

Is there a way to export a Team Project to a new server?
What about backup options?

Thanks,

There is not a way to export a Team Project to a new server, and I don't believe there will be support for that in v1.

Backing up data on the server consists largely of backing up the SQL databases used by TFS (note that AD/AM is no longer used by TFS) and the SharePoint portal. There will be documentation on how to back up the system, if there's not already.

My work is going to start using TFS and the whole VSTS Suite. If TFS does not allow for a way to export a team project should we wait until the final version of TFS is released? My work does not want to go through the time of migrating to TFS to just do it again when the final version comes out.

You will be able to upgrade your Team Foundation Server from Beta 3 Refresh or RC to RTM, and you'll be able to move it to different hardware. Buck's comment above is in regards to moving one Team Project off the server, while leaving others on the original server. That's not supported.

Is there ever going to be support for import/export in TFS? Even a third party app would be great. I'm currently in a bind where this would be valuable.

Dear Cthistle:

There are ways to back data and restore them to another TFS. You can move the whole TFS data including all projects to a new machine. But there is no method to import/export one arbitrary project. Here is a useful link about how to move a TFS. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms404869(VS.80).aspx

Good luck.
