Report Server - local AppServer only?

Greetings-

Looking for confirmation of default Report Server requirements:

Dual Server setup; Visual Studio Team Foundation Server

Going through the dd_vsinstall80.txt file that is generated - it looks as though when performing the application server install, that it wants the Report Server to be running on <localhost> (in this case the app server itself).

Our configuration has a cross-matrix of two different related server solutions (and works flawlessly - with the exception of VSTFS)

Server 1 (Database Server)

WS03 EntEd SP1
IIS 6.0
ASP 2.0
ASP 1.1
SharePoint Portal Server
>>Connected to SQL server 2005 Enterprise Edition June CTP
>>Hung off of unique IIS 6.0 website on Server 1 (not default)

SQL Server 2005 June CTP
SQL 2005 Report Server
SQL 2005 Analysis Server

Project Server 2003
>>>Connected to SQL 2000 SP4 w/ Analysis Server & Report Server on Server 2

WSS 2.0 SP1
>>SQL Server 2000 SP4 back end on Server 2 (per Project Server requirements)
>>Unique IIS Website on Server 1 (sites) for Project SharePoint integration
>>Not default Web Server

Server 2

WS03 EntEd SP1
SQL Server 2000 SP4a
SQL Server Report Server
SQL Server Analysis Server

WSS 2.0 SP1 set up in Default mode (MSDE/Default Website)

When overviewing the dd_ file I see that it wants to install the Report Server to <localhost> on Port 8080. What provision is made that the Report Server can be the database tier server, and that it will not necessarily run off of 8080?

Thanks!

Christopher,

At the moment, the configuration you are trying to setup won't work ... TFS setup will block installation

Server 1 (DB)
W2K3 w/ SP1
IIS 6.0
ASP 2.0 & 1.1 (you get 1.1 w/ Windows ... we don't require it)
SQL 2005
SQL Analysis
SQL Reporting
SQL Agent

Server 2 (Middle Tier)
W2K3 w/ SP1
IIS 6.0
ASP 2.0 & 1.1 (you get 1.1 w/ Windows)
WSS V2 SP1 (portal server, SPS, won't work)
AD/AM (if you are Beta 2)

The DT goes to Server 1
The AT goes to Server 2

And, report server needs to go to port 80 on Server 2. Port 8080 is for the Web Services.
