Hi,

You will first need to create a new VSS database and add users. When you add users to VSS Database, it simply takes the name and does not take the domain user. This is done using the "Microsoft Visual SourceSafe Administration".

However, you will need to share the folder which has the Database and add the Domain user on the security tab and provide him with rights to the folder.

thanks for the answer, i have done before exactly what You wrote about but i hoped that is a posible to make login into vss dependent on domain/user of the server.

Hi,

In addition you can do the following:

In the Visual SourceSafe Administrator:

1. Add the users (without passwords).
2. On the Tools menu, click Options, click the General tab, and make sure that Use network name for automatic user log in is selected.

Read this for more details on this option:

Hi Artur,

When you create VSS users to match domain/user accounts you can assign random passwords to them, too (there's no need to have empty passwords).
When you're using "Use network name for automatic user log in" VSS will not prompt users to enter their passwords. Setting some random passwords will make it less likely that users will be able to use other users' VSS names when opening the VSS database.
