"project creation failed" in vs2005 & WM5.0 SDK
can't create smart device projects, while native win32 projects are ok.
when i press ok button in the New Project dialog, the windows disappered and quickly went back, and there is a "Creating project <name>... project creation failed" msg in the status bar.
i searched the forum and found this thread:

there were two users(kidjan andAlpha W) encountered the same question.
repair the WM5SDK didn't help, any solution?

i tried, after running that, when i launch vs2005, it says:"preparing for the first time using ..." or somewhat else, so i guess it ran properly? but that doesn 't fix the prob, i still can't create smart device projects...
Can you please give following information:
1) Do you have VS2005 RTM build or Beta2 build? If RTM, then did you do an upgrade from VS2005 Beta2->RTM
2) Do you get any other error dialogs before project creation failed error message?

Did you try deleting
\Documents and Settings\<local user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CoreCon\1.0 directory?
And are you getting the same error after doing so?
i tried delete the whole CoreCon dir, didn't help
anyway i reinstalled windows and got that prob solved while reinstall vs didn't help.
I've the same problem. I can't say how long since when I noticed I hadn't started a new vs/PPC project for probably a half year. I thought maybe it was encrypting folders, but that was a guess. It could have been an SP. I don't run IE7 here, never had (I don't have the reg entry talked about, either). So, something's fubar -- I took a look under the hood but all I saw was this black box. The mechanic I came across said I needed a new black box. Maybe so, but I don't need a wiz to make a project so I'll just have to ignore that black box.
