Popping up seachindexer.exe

This problem came up when I installed a ION USB Turntable on this system. It hadn't come up before that. I have Office 2007 beta on this system as well as Adobe Reader 7.0.8. Looking at other threads, that Adobe could be the problem. What do I do to stop the popping up?

Hello lute76,

The pdf IFilter provided by Adobe has caused some problems with searchindexer.exe in the 3.0 beta, but the error you are seeing is inconsistent with this. You can check to see if you have the IFilter installed by going to the Add/Remove programs list. If you do have the IFilter, you can uninstall it and see if that fixes the problem.

To be honest, I would suggest removing Windows Desktop Search (WDS) 3.0 beta and going to back to WDS 2.6.5 as searchindexer.exe has been a bit touchy in the beta. Doing this will disable instant search in Outlook, but I imagine that this is probably a worthy trade-off given the problems you are having.

Once you uninstall 3.0 Outlook will keep reminding you to update WDS and enable instant search. Do not install the update to WDS as this will put you back where you were before. To disable the Outlook reminders go to Tools:Options:Other:Advanced. Once there deselect the show prompts... option.

Hi,

Wondering if you have any suggestions for me.

I constantly get this searchindexer,.exe error message popping up after installing office 2007 beta. This started happening after a power failure.

I have uninstalled office 2007 beta and re-installed with no luck of fixing this pop up error message. Unfortunately the second time I installed I was not asked if I wanted to install the instant desktop search.

Not sure how to fix this, would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,

demarie

I have invanely tried to uninstall it to install adobe 8.0.

Ihave succeeded to delete most of it in windows search but the two updates and some of the files say that they are either uninstallable or undeletable. At this point I have no viable Adobe. It was nearly useless before my deletions but now it is completely wortless.

When I try to install Adobe 8.0 it returns an error message: 1714.

I am not a computer whiz, so if anyone has an answer to my predicament please...

Thank you.

Here are two guys with the same problem as I: they've attempted to install Adobe 8.0, and they're getting "Error 1714" messages. I've removed every Adobe thing that I can on my computer...and it still insists an old version can't be removed or changed...Error 1714.

I have Windows XP. I have Office XP - which is recent. I have gone to the Adobe web site; they keep sending me to the Microsoft Web site, which keeps sending me to the Adobe web site. I just need an Adobe Reader that works. Please advise what I need to do. Thanks!
