MCMS starter info

Hi - trying to do some basic templates for MCMS and have managed to install the 120 day trial but can't seem to find anything on how to get started building a v simple site with it. I have the WoodgroveNetVB sample but have some issues connecting to and using that and really wanted to start something from scratch. Can someone point me at some 'how to start' forum/guide etc?
