Installation problems

Try as I might, I just don't seem to be able to install the D3D10 developer runtime and refrast on my machine...

I'm using Vista 5472 (the July CTP) and DX July 2006. Installation of the SDK seems to go OK (and yes, I checked that 'Developer Support' was turned on under the 'runtime' section) but all of the D3D10-only samples complain that they can't find a compatable D3D device, and the DX control panel won't let me change to the debug runtime.

Not really sure what to try... I'd be happy to install the refrast by hand, if someone would be willing to walk me through where the files should go and which registry entries need to be added to enable the device.

Wrong Vista Version. The June SDK needs the BETA 2 (5384) build to work. Something I had to learn the hard way too. For every SDK version so far you need the right Vista build.

%#@$!*&$#@!!!!

*cough*

Right, thanks. Good thing MSDN seem to have shipped that build on DVD already and I don't have to spend another 12 hours downloading it...
