Multi Display support on Vista

Hi guys

Any of you has information or evidence regarding multi display

capability of Vista? In specific, the following configurations are

already supported by WinXP:

1. Two or more displays connected on a single graphics card (MHS)

2. Two or more displays connected on two graphic cards of same vendor/chip

3. Two or more displays connected on two graphic cards of divverent vendors (MDS)

I received rumors these support has been dropped in Vista. I cannot

believe it but I could not find any evidence they are actually

supported.

If anybody can confirm this, it would be really appreciated.

Thank you

Ascanio

Hi, Ascanio. I'm not familiar with the hardware specifications that you mention. I'm running two displays on a single card (Radeon 9800) with excellent results under all Vista builds since Beta 1. I can't imagine MSFT removing support for multiple displays. If anything, I expect that video card advancements will expand the opportunity for MM support under Vista. (Just my thoughts.)

I just wandered down the hall and looked in my friend's office. His multimonitor machine runs Vista just fine. It doesn't take much to start a rumor.

hy,

i've got a nvidia 7950gx2 and an ati ax300 (both pci-x cards), and get the error message in vista:

"incompatible display adapter has been disabled"

in xp64 the same setup is working fine. any idea?

I have an nvidia 6600 in my pci-express and a PCI Matrox G450 which works fine together in windows XP, but does not in vista..

"At least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because it's driver is not compatible with the driver for the VGA Adapter."

Works great in XP, but not vista :(

I don't work at MS, and I have both scenarios 1 and 2 working with dual monitors on Vista RC1 with no problems. I'm not sure about #3 (I don't have a computer with that setup), but I'm sure the support is there -- however, the drivers supplied by third parties have a bit of polishing to do. Some drivers are just notoriously poor.

these forums are not for technical discussions im afraid, these forums are for software development discussions, the UI Development for Windows Vista.

Remember, Vista is still under development and not all vendors have produced drivers or even are "bug free" - Vista is almost complete, but not entirely. I would also suggest posting in the appropriate Windows Vista communities to get a better answer, even though the answer has already been provided here.
