How to search inside of PDFs?

How can you search the text of PDF files using Windows Desktop Search 3 Beta 2.

I also have Windows XP Professional, Adobe 7 and Office 2003.

Do you have the PDF IFiler installed. With 2.6.5, and I assume 3.0, you need the IFilter for WDS to index the contents of the PDF file. If you open options and click advanced and then file types you'll see what the current level of indexing for PDFs is available.

Hello nosajeel,

In order to index the content of .pdf files you need to install a .pdf IFilter (Adobe offers one for download on their site). Unfortunately, there currently isn't a .pdf IFilter that works with WDS 3.0. It is expected that one should be available shortly. If you have a strong need to index .pdf files you can still do so with WDS 2.6.5 and any of the available (free) .pdf IFilters.

Where do you find the IFilters? I looked at the WDS page and could not find any links for them.

Are there any PDF ifilters that work with Windows Desktop Search 3 yet?

Actually, Foxit ifilter works with WDS 3. But it doesn't seem to allow previewing of documents -- in fact it automatically opens them in a full window. Any idea why it does this?
