Scaling a web page to print on 8.5 by 11 page
Hi,
We have developed a wonderful sharepoint portal that displays data graphically using sharepoint webparts. The only problem is when the end user wants to print this page parts of the page gets cut off etc. All the pages on the sharepoint site are currently using a standard stylesheet.
I have read up that I can use the @print media type in the stylesheet to control the font and (include/exclude) parts of the page when printing, but is there also a way to scale the page using CSS so that the page always prints on an 8.5/11 for the print media type ?
Is there a way to always change the page orientation to landscape for the print media type ?
Thank you
Umesh
The version of ScriptX that will be released in the IE7 / XP / Vista timeframe will enable the 'scale to fit' functionality of the IE7 print template to be applied to content rendered in IE 5.5 and IE 6.0 too.
Along with scripted control of header, footer, coarse margins and printed orientation, it will form part of the 'free' ScriptX subset.

Hi Dave,
And what about the problem related in this thread http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=883685&SiteID=1 ?
IE Team have some position ?
What do you say?
Can you tell me how to turn off the automatic shrink to fit feature? If you go into print preview you change it for that one document but it does not seem to stay.
Thank You for any help you can provide,

| Hi Umesh, We've addressed the problems with printing in IE7 with shrink to fit being the default. For earlier versions of IE I'm afraid this isn't available. Thanks -Dave | |
You may think it's a great "fix" or "feature" to have shrink-to-fit as the "default" but we do not. We have spent a tremendous amount of time creating web base application that we do not wish to have to recode because of your new "feature" with no ability to configure or disable.
What is being done about correcting this "Problem?"

Is there a fix for this? I am a technician for the Met in NY, and I have a user who is using IE7, the only way she can print normal is changing the print view to 100% from shrink to fit. Has Microsoft create a fix for this? Or should I downgrade her to IE6 SP2.
