IE7 RC1 unable to open new tabs
Hi
As with the previous IE7 beta releases I'm still unable to open new tabs (via right-mouse click) with IE7 RC1. I've checked all the IE options as suggested in the beta release threads but still no luck.
Is anyone else having this problem and are there any recommendations for actually getting this to work? It's been very frustrating not being able to use this useful feature.
Cheers
Hi Kebab
Try this:
1. click Tools - Manage Add-ons... - Enable or Disable Add-ons...
2. just disable all the add-ons that are "currently being used by Internet Explorer": click each add-on and click disable radio button at the bottom (you can enable them at any time)
3. click OK - you may be prompted to restart Internet Explorer
4. when you open back IE, you should see your "tabs" working when you right-click a hyperlink
5. the key is, keep enabling each (or group of) add-ons, and check until you find the add-on which stops you using the tabs
I found this info on one of the Microsoft communities website and it worked for me. I had to disable EarthLink toolbar which wasn't allowing me to use the tab feature. For others, it might be something else.
Not sure what's the root-cause about the "tab" issue with IE7 RC1.
HTH !

I have not had the tabs working for a long time. I have Vista Beta and the tabs work there but in IE7, they don't work at all. I have just installed the new IE7 and it unloaded and removed all settings and then I reset to default in the Tools Internet options and the tabs still don't work.
Really strange because tabs work well in Firefox and Maxthon ?
I have tried everything I know of to get tabs to work. They simply do not work at all and I did try disabling and re-enabling addins as suggested. I also restored all settings to default, still no dice. I also tried reinstalling ie7 but this didn't change anything.
Thanks for any help,
Wendy C
i had same problem except my browser closed when it attempted to open a new tab.
I found an addon in IE7 called avmain that when enabled stops tab browsing working in IE7 using valid copy of xp pro.
i had already tried reinstalling IE7 (waste of time so dont do it) but this did not rectify the problem.
i then cancelled this addon as it was the last one to have installed and low and behold, tabbed browsing now works again.
good luck guys, and i hope this helps.
We have received automatic downloads of IE7 and find that shortcut-style hyperlinks on our desktop hang indefinitely unless IE7 has already been launched. We have no add-ins etc. It does this on clean new machines after IE7 download and install. Have tried anything we could find on the web, to no avail. This is pretty disastrous for us.
