upgrade from w2k pro to xp pro

Can't seem to find the answer to this question.

I purchased vs 2005 for my w2k pro laptop. If I upgrade to xp pro will I have to upgrade my vs 2005 also?

not at all. VS2005 will work on W2k, WS2003, Windows XP. There are no "upgrades" for VS2005, unless its from VS2003 -> VS2005. Software generally works fine when upgrading the OS - depending on if the OS supports it and the product itself, VS2005 will work. Here are the system requirements for VS2005:
